Caroline talks with Mississippi chef Vishwesh Bhatt about his award-winning cookbook, I Am From Here.
Vishwesh Bhatt is a chef and cookbook author who has made his home in Oxford, Mississippi.
He has been a part of the Chef John Currence's City Grocery Restaurant Group since 1997, and has been the Executive Chef of Snackbar since 2009.
He was nominated for People’s Best New Chef by Food & Wine and won the 2019 James Beard Award for Best Chef in the South, as well as the 2019 Southern Living’s Southerner of the Year Award.
His 2022 cookbook, I Am From Here: Stories and Recipes From a Southern Chef is the winner of the 2023 James Beard U. S. Foodways Cookbook Award, and is one of our all-time favorite cookbooks at Friendly City Books.
